Hello guys,

I am taking you with me to Vogel (->map).
Last time, we stopped in near Lake Bohinj, ready to take the cable car to Vogel.
Now, we are going to take the cable ride together.

Cable car to Vogel. Ready to go !

Vogel is a 1922 meters high mountain in the southern Julian Alps.
It is part of the Triglav National Park.

It is one of the biggest Ski resort in Slovenia.
A lot of people go there to Ski during the winter.
But you can also go there during the summer.

The cable car to take you to a height of 1537 meters.
The return ticket to Vogel cost 20 € for adults.
The cable car ride is a lot of fun.
You’ll see Lake bohinj and the valley of Bohinj from above.

On our way up to Vogel.
View of Lake Bohinj, we are halway to the top.

When you’ll arrive at the top, take a little bit of time to enjoy the great view.
If you want to take good pictures at the cable car station, wait for 5 minutes
and most of tourists will be gone. Then you’ll be alone to take great pictures from there.

Arriving at the upper cable car station.
From this platform, next to the cable car, you can take good pictures of the mountains and the valley of Bohinj.

Even in the summer, a lot of people continue to go to Vogel.
There are many mountain trails all around the Vogel Ski Resort..
You can easily walk for hours if you wish.
Some people also walk up toward the top of the mountains.

Walking along a mountain trail in the summer.

There are at least 6 bars/restaurants and Chalets in Vogel.
I like to go eat or have a drink at the Chalet Merjasec or at the terrace of Restaurant Viharnik.
When the weather is nice, you can sit at the terrace and enjoy the view of the mountains.
But the others bars/restaurants are also nice, you have plenty of choice.

Restaurant Viharnik (big chalet to the right), next to the upper cable car station.
Fantastic view from the terrace of “Restaurant Viharnik”.
Chalet Marjasec … You can eat, drink and also sleep there.

When the weather is sunny, you can at least spend 2 hours in Vogel.
Enough time to walk along some of the many trails, take pictures and have a drink in one of the restaurants.
There are also summer activities for kids and Adults ( kids’playground, Zip line, Paragliding, hiking tours, mountain bikes …).

Before going back down to the lake, take a few minutes
and look at the Julian Alps mountains one last time.
It is so beautiful that it will make you want to come back in Vogel once again.

My tips for Vogel:

1/ Take the cable car early to avoid the crowd.
2/ Eat or drink in one of the restaurants or Chalets.
3/ Walk along one of the many mountain trails.
