Hello guys,

Today, I am going to show you the town of Bled (->map) and its lake, near the Alps.
Bled has less than 10,000 inhabitants but is one of the top 3 most visited cities in Slovenia.

Bled is about 55 kilometers away from Ljublana. You can easily go there by car, by bus or even by train.
When you arrive in Bled, it really looks very amazing.
From the main avenue all the way down to the lake, you will see a cute little island right in the middle of it.

On a hill, above the lake, proudly stands the castle of Bled.
Down bellow, from the lake, the view of the castle is spectacular.

For those of you who will choose to go visit the castle, do not hesitate to order a drink at the terrace, in the courtyard.
You won’t get a better view than this one. Drinks are not too expensive.
You’ll see Lake bled, its island and the surrounding mountains.

From the castle of Bled, you will be able to see the peak of the mountain called “Triglav”.
“Triglav” (meaning “the three heads”) is the highest summit of the Alps in slovenia.
It is 2864 meters high and has the shape of 3 pyramids at its top.

The summit of the Triglav mountain is the symbol of Slovenia.
You can see it well on the Slovenian flag.

One of the highlight of visiting Bled is to go on boat on the little island, in the middle of the lake.
To go there, you can rent a boat or go on board with other people on a wooden boat called “Pletna” (up to 20/25 people max).
The “Pletna” boat is operated by a oarsman called “Pletnar”.
When you will arrive on the island, the “Pletnar” will leave you about 40 min to visit the island and its church before going back.
If you are too late, you’ll have to wait for another “Pletna” boat to go back on the mainland.
