Hello guys,

I am taking you with me to show you the Temple of Monte Grisa (->map).
I very often saw a very strange building when I was walking around in Trieste.
I looked up toward the top of a cliff and a saw a kind of pyramid with a cross at its top.
I figured out that it must probably be a church with a very quirky disign but I was not completely sure.
I found that pyramidal shape was very uncanny.

In February 2018, I decided to go there to see it closer.
I imagined that it was complicated and quite far to go there by car but it was not.
From the little village where I live in Slovenia ,it just took me 17 minutes to get to the Temple.
Once I got there …waouhhh …this place was really special.
From the main road leading to the temple, you can see this strange building above the tree line getting bigger and bigger.
As I got closer, I was glad to see that there was a lot of greenary all around the temple.

I thought this place was closed during week untill I saw a couple opening the door and going inside.
Fantastic, I realized that it was also open to visitors during the week.
The interior of the church was as uncanny as the exterior.
I loved the pyramidal shapes inside the church and I loved the way natural light coming from outside gently lighted up the interior.

If you are outside the church, take your time and try to find a good spot to take pictures of Trieste.
If you walk around a little, you’ll see benches  and tables (at the left of the Temple) where you’ll be able to sit with friends and drink something.

Near the entrance of the temple (the top floor entrance), you’ll see a big bronze statue and a huge belvedere.
This belvedere will give you the best view over Trieste.
You’ll be able to see “Barcola”, the docks of Trieste, the castle of Miramar, the Victory Lighthouse and a lot more.

My tips for Monte Grisa:

1/ Park your car in this area.
2/ Go to the Belvedere.
3/ Go inside the temple.
4/ Go visit Grotta Gigante (4 km away).
