Hi guys,

You are in Trieste in the summertime and it is hot. You’d like to feel a fresh breeze on your face.
I got a good tip for you. When you think about Trieste, you must think “Water/Sea“.
Since the city is just next to the adriatic sea, let’s take advantage of it and take the boat to travel with style.
The company that operates a network of boat services in the province of Trieste is called Delfino Verde.

Molo dei Bersaglieri in Trieste. This boat will depart soon for Muggia.

I highly recommend you to take a “Delfino Verde” boat to visit 3 beautiful cities on the adriatic’s sea coasts.
If you take the boat in Trieste, you’ll be able to go visit Sistiana, Muggia and Grado.

The boat trip to Muggia is just 30 minutes long.
You can go visit Muggia for a couple of hours and come back in Trieste afterwards.
This line Trieste-Muggia is also very interesting because the boat goes along the docks of Trieste.
You’ll see a lot of the industrial activities, containers, container ships and many logistics companies.
Trieste is an important industrial cities in Italy and a lot of goods arrive here, by boat.
The port of Trieste is one of the biggest in Italy. More than 30% of coffee importation in Italy transit in Trieste.

On our way to Muggia. Those kids are learning how to sail with their instructor in Trieste.
Docks of Trieste. The city is one of the most important seaport in Italy.
Getting off the boat in Muggia.
Leaving Muggia after a couple of hours. On our way back to Trieste.

The line Trieste-Sistiana is another option.
This boat trip is absolutly fantastic and last 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Before arriving in Sistiana, there are 2 stops.
The first stop is at Barcola, you can choose to stop there and enjoy the sun with the Triestini (inhabitants of Trieste).
The second stop is at the Marina of Grignano, just behind the Park of Miramare.
You can also choose to stop there, walk in the marina and go visit the park of Miramare.
Between the Marina of Grignano and Sistiana, you’ll see a lot of beautiful things :
Luxurious old villas and Hotels,  nice little beaches, people sailing and fishing, little marinas etc …

Leaving Trieste. We are on our way to Sistiana.
View of the Victory Lighthouse from the boat. One of the most famous landmarks in Trieste.
Park of Miramare and the Castle of Miramare.
Water Tower on the cliff, near Sistiana. All the buoys floating on the water are used for mussel farming.
Getting off the boat at the Marina of Sistiana.

The boat line Trieste-Grado is also 1 hours and 15 minutes long.
You can easily spend half a day in Grado and go back to Trieste late in the afternoon (still by boat).
Grado is a beautiful city on the seacoast between Venise and Trieste.
The city is very touristy during the summer.
A lot of tourists coming from all over the world go spend their holiday in Grado to enjoy the beach.

Delfino Verde boat departing for Grado. The building behind is the maritime station of Trieste.
Getting off the boat at Molo Torpediniere. The beach of Grado is only 600 meters away.
Going to the beach in Grado just after arriving by boat from Trieste.

My tips for Delfino Verde :

1/ Do not hesitate, the boat ticket is not expensive.
2/ The line Trieste – Sistiana only works in the summer.
3/ The line Trieste – Grado only works in the summer.
4/ The line Trieste – Muggia works all year long.

5/ You can go on the boat with your bike (16 bikes max).
